COMPOSITES EXCHANGE by Johns Manville
The adoption of new materials in high volume applications requires study of the total cost, systems solutions, and design strategies. Johns Manville (JM) has partnered with Forward Engineering GmbH (FE) to advance lightweight multi-material solutions centered on the design flexibility offered by continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites. The presenters will provide an overview of the NeomeraTM thermoplastic composites pioneered by JM and will highlight an innovative engineering design completed by FE for a structural battery enclosure. Materials and overmolding production processes that support the potential for broader adoption of structural thermoplastics in the very near term will be discussed.
