JEC World 2022 DAY 1: Composite battery enclosure design - beyond lightweighting

Solvay partnered with Ricardo to develop and optimise use of composite materials in battery enclosures and drive customer benefit beyond lightweighting. The project team highlighted Volumetric efficiency of the battery enclosure to drive the design philosophy. A series of design and validation loops were carried out to develop an innovative design that meets the major mechanical requirements of a battery enclosure, whilst giving a significant increase in energy density.
