PMMA Composite Recycling ' A Shift Towards Net Zero Discharge

The objective of this investigation is to determine ways to handle, repurpose, and ultimately eliminate composite scrap for use in industrial applications.

TORAY PMC manufactures a large amount of thermoplastic composite panels and parts every year. The business activities generate enough amount of scrap to deserve attention to prevent it from going into landfill. The scrap material is usually a combination of waste generated through routine operational activities and rejected product from quality control checks.

This session focuses on the efforts undertaken to recycle scrap composite material based on glass and carbon fiber reinforced polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) resin system. The objective of this investigation is to determine ways to handle, repurpose, and ultimately eliminate composite scrap for use in industrial applications. The hope is to create and deliver a sound technical solution based on TORAY PMCs sustainability driven business philosophy in offering valuable, cost-effective, and easily adaptable solutions to customers.
